As an international professional website that specializes in the global trend statistics of MBR technology, products and projects, the MBR site (www.thembrsite.com) has recently released the latest statistics on the world’s largest MBR projects (including projects under construction) and their operators’ information. The statistics show that, by Feb., 2016, OriginWater has 24 MBR projects with a capacity of 100,000 tons/day or above, surpassing GE who has 17 to become the company that has the greatest number of largest MBR projects in the world.

It is reported that, due to such advantages as high effluent water quality and lower land requirements, the membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology is generally acknowledged as one of the world’s most potential and competitive sewage treatment and reuse technologies in the 21st century. In the past ten years, Chinese enterprises represented by OriginWater have broken down the technical barriers of several developed countries, mastered the most advanced MBR membrane material preparation method, and built the world’s largest-scale membrane production line(s). At present, in the world, only OriginWater and GE are capable of developing the full range of membrane products and the two companies have been occupying over 90% of the global MBR market for a long period of time.

It was in 2015 that OriginWater made giant strides in the field of water treatment. According to statistics on the MBR site, by Mar., 2015, in terms of the number of MBR projects above 100,000 tons/day around the globe, OriginWater and GE were almost neck and neck with 18 projects and 17 projects respectively. Only a year later, OriginWater widened the gap and quickly surpassed GE to rank first in the world.

An authoritative expert in MBR, Professor Simon Judd earlier published an article on the MBR site, which pointed out that OriginWater has already had 24 MBR projects with a total scale of 100,000 tons/day or above, and 48 MBR projects with a total design scale of 50,000 tons/day or above. He predicted that in 2016 OriginWater’s total scale would maintain a 25% annual growth rate. Given the total project scale of 15,000,000 tons/day last year, OriginWater’s total project scale in this year would remain between 17,000,000-20,000,000 tons/day. Furthermore, he assumed that, given the fact that there was nearly 1 billion tons of wastewater generated each day, MBR technology holds huge market potential and room for improvement.
